Below is a list of our most frequently reported issues:

Error Message: "Not Authorized on this Computer"
After successful installation of WINDOWS PixWriter v3.0 or v3.2 or Picture It v5.0 or v5.2, when starting the program, an error message appears stating that it is not authorized on the computer. This is due to a voice installed on the computer through another software program. The voice is limiting your access to just that intended software.
To correct this error message:
1. Go to your menu option SPEECH
2. Select voice MICROSOFT ANNA or MICROSOFT SAM
3. If these steps didn't work, please contact tech support


No Speech
Windows 7 and Vista users must use Picture It v5.2 and PixWriter v3.2.     For upgrade options, click HERE for PIcture It and HERE for PixWriter

For Operating Systems Windows XP using earlier verions of Picture It and PixWriter - try the following suggestions in order. If at any time, it fixes your issue, you do not have to continue
1. When installing, select "Si" for Spanish capability.
2. Restart your computer after installation.
3. If you received an error while installing, email our tech support with the error message.
4. Make sure your volume is up, and that you can hear other things on your computer.
5. Go to MY Computer - c:/Program Files/Picture It OR c:/Program Files/PixWriter.
6. In that folder find the following files. Double click each one individually to run them:
" spchapi.exe; "AgtX0C0A.exe; "lhttsspe.exe; "TV-ENUA.exe
7. Restart your computer.

Can't locate after installing
Picture It and PixWriter for Windows
1. All versions of the software are installed on your c:/program files/ directory. To locate them, you can go to:
2. My Computer.
3. c: drive (Hard drive).
4. Program Files folder.
5. Then there is a sub folder for Picture It and/or PixWriter. Depending on the version of the software, it might be listed as well. For example: PixWriter v3.
6. In those folders, you will find the Picture It.exe file or the PixWriter.exe file. Those are the programs.
7. Double click them to open. If these steps didn't work, please contact tech support

Picture It and PixWriter for Macintosh
1. All versions of the software are installed in your Applications. To locate them, you can go to:
2. Finder
3. Applications
4. Then there is a sub folder for Picture It and/or PixWriter. Depending on the version of the software, it might be listed as well. For example: PixWriter v3.
5. In those folders, you will find the Picture It.app file or the PixWriter.app file. Those are the programs.
6. Double click them to open. If these steps didn't work, please contact tech support

Read and Tell - Windows
1. All versions of the software are installed on your c:/program files/ directory. To locate them, go to:
2. PixWriter. File/Open.
3. c: drive (Hard drive).
4. Program Files folder.
5. Then there is a sub folder for Picture Power Pack and/or PixWriter (no version number).
6. In one of those folders, you will find a sub-folder titled "Read and Tell" (primary), "Read and Tell Intermediate" or "Read and Tell Teen". Those are the programs.
7. Primary will now have subfolders of alphabetical listing of Book Titles. Intermediate and Teen will break up the files by Title. If these steps didn't work, please contact tech support

Read and Tell - Macintosh
1. All versions of the software are installed on your Applications directory. To locate them, go to:
2. PixWriter. File/Open.
3. Applications.
5. Then there is a sub folder for Picture Power Pack and/or PixWriter (no version number).
6. In one of those folders, you will find a sub-folder titled "Read and Tell" (primary), "Read and Tell Intermediate" or "Read and Tell Teen". Those are the programs.
7. Primary will now have subfolders of alphabetical listing of Book Titles. Intermediate and Teen will break up the files by Title. NOTE: Intermediate and Teen both have PDF files that can be accessed on the CD, or copied to your documents or desktop. If these steps didn't work, please contact tech support



Trouble Importing Photographs
Picture It and PixWriter for Windows 2000/XP
1. Open the photograph you are wanting to import. NOTE: You must open it in your program, not just view a thumbnail.
2. Go to menu option EDIT/Copy.
3. Open Picture It or PixWriter.
4. Click on the Target button.
5. Put the word you want associated with the file in the box on the left column.
6. For versions PixWriter 3.0 and Picture It 5.0 and higher, you should now see a thumbnail picture in the middle. All other versions, select "Clipboard Picture"Click on it.
7. Select Add Target
8. Select OK
9. If this didn't work, go to START/All Programs/Accessories/Paint
10. Menu EDIT/Paste (If this doesn't work, then you didn't open it fully in your photograph editing program - go back and open it, then copy again and return to Paint)
11. Menu EDIT/Select All
12. Menu EDIT/Copy
13. Repeat steps 3-8 above. If these steps didn't work, please contact tech support

Picture It and PixWriter for Windows 7/Vista
1. Open the photograph you are wanting to import. NOTE: You must open it in your program, not just view a thumbnail.
2. Right Click the photo.
3. Select OPEN WITH.
4. Select PAINT. This opens your picture in an Accessory Program
5. Click on the SELECT button on the top. Choose SELECT ALL
6. Click on the COPY BUTTON.
7. Open Picture It or PixWriter
8. Go to your TARGET WORDS
9. Put the word you want associated with the file in the box on the left column.
10. For versions PixWriter 3.0 and Picture It 5.0 and higher, you should now see a thumbnail picture in the middle. All other versions, select "Clipboard Picture"Click on it.
11. Select Add Target
12. Select OK

Switches
PixWriter
1. The type of switch you are using dictates the key characters. Many switches have ports that you can choose to connect to your computer. These list the key characters available.
2. For example, there might be a row (many times it is color coded) that has numbers.
3. Set your switch to that color row.
4. In PixWriter, go to OPTIONS/Set up Scan.
5. Select the Key Character listed on your device for the port you've selected.
6. If you have version 3.0 or higher, you can select a second key character if you would like to do 2-step switch scanning.
7. Select OK. If these steps didn't work, please contact tech support

Printing
Picture It and PixWriter
1. If you are networked, please check with your IT department for help.
2. HP and other printers are notorious for needed the Drivers updated.
3. Please go to the printer's website and verify that the most up to date driver is installed.

Task Bar Hiding Buttons
PixWriter Windows
1. Resize Window from the top.
2. Pass cursor over the top and get double arrow allowing you to move it down the thickness of the tool bar.
3. Drag the Window up by grabbing the Title Bar and moving it up.
4. Go to OPTIONS menu bar and switch to different number of buttons (4, 16, 36, or 64).
5. Click the top right box to make it screen size.

Older Windows versions free updates
1. PixWriter v1.5 single switch scanning version.
Install by copying the two files from the archive into your previous PixWriter installation directory. Documentation

2. Picture It v3.2.2
Unzip (using WinZip). Install by copying the resulting "Picture It.exe" into your previous Picture It installation directory. Double click.

Older Macintosh versions free updates
1. PixWriter v2.2.2 fixes "double talk" issue with some voices as well as Auditory Feedback for Scanning
Install by copying the resulting "PixWriter" into your previous PixWriter installation directory. Documentation

2. Picture It v4.1 fixes word crowding printing problems.
Install by copying the resulting file "Picture It" into your previous Picture It v4 (or Picture Power Pack) installation folder.
